Juventus’ youth sides experienced mixed emotions on Sunday, with the Under 17s falling 2-1 to Torino in the derby while the club’s Under 15s triumphed 3-1 away to Alessandria.

Kicking off the action at 11.00 CEST, Davide Cei’s young guns sealed a crucial win that sees them tighten their grip on fifth place, which is enough for qualification to the round of 16 knockout stages once the regular league season finishes at the end of April. Nicolò Fagioli, Giuseppe Leone and Matteo Pinelli all got their names on the scoresheet in what was the visitors’ fourth consecutive victory.

The day would pan out less positively, however, for Felice Tufano’s Under 17s, who ended up on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline against inter-city rivals Torino this afternoon in Vinovo.

Giuseppe Ianniello scored either side of half-time to establish a 2-0 lead for the visitors before Bianconeri striker Federico Mastropietro struck a late consolation goal.

The reverse leaves Tufano’s charges in second place with three games left to play, including fixtures against table-toppers Sampdoria and Fiorentina, who are in third.

There was better news to emerge from Juventus’ younger sides on Sunday, with the Giovanissimi (born in 2002) reaching the semi-final of the so-called Torneo delle Sirene di Sorrento, where they eventually lost out to Milan. They would go on to end the tournament in style, however, thrashing Sant’Agnello 5-0 in the third-place play-off. Meanwhile, the club’s 2007, 2006 and 2005 vintages all celebrated friendly wins this weekend.
