The club’s Primavera will play Palermo in this season’s Viareggio Cup final following a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Spezia on Sunday evening.

Trailing to a first-half Andrija Filipovic strike, Fabio Grosso’s youngsters edged in front through Pol Lirola and Alessandro Schiattarella goals but found themselves pegged back by an injury-time Giulio Maggiore effort.

Penalties were required to settle the encounter once and for all and despite seeing their first three spot kicks saved by the Spezia goalkeeper, Juventus dug deep to progress thanks to Severin’s winning strike.

Speaking to the media afterwards, Grosso said: “It was a strange game. We deserve to be in this final and we’re very happy. Our overall aim is to develop a group of players who have great quality, but now we want to keep going and sign off this competition in style.”

The Bianconeri will run out for their fourteenth Viareggio Cup final on Wednesday against Palermo. Kick-off is scheduled for 15.00 CET.
