"We're pleased with our start to the season even if there is still plenty of work to be done" says CEO Giuseppe Marotta in Milan

Strong showings at home and in the Champions League, a world-class squad and a unique skipper in Gianluigi Buffon were the topics of conversation as club CEO Giuseppe Marotta provided a summary of Juventus' start to the campaign at the National Refereeing Commission (Commissione Arbitri Nazionali) in Milan today.

Speaking to journalists at the event, which also featured a myriad of club officials, players and coaches from across Serie A, Marotta had this to say of the Bianconeri's current state of play:

      Strong start to season

"We've made a promising start to the new campaign. We know that there is still plenty yet to be done but our performances so far have been good, we're top of Serie A and we're on the right track in the Champions League.

"All of this is a result of having a very well-equipped squad, the profile of which perfectly fits our objectives as a club for this season."

"Marchisio? A huge player for us"

"Claudio Marchisio is a hugely important figure for us. He is versatile, can play in a number of positions and his return will be a big boost to the team who have done well to compensate for his absence so far."

      Buffon, model professional

"Buffon is unique not only for his talent on the field but also his qualities off it. He has left an indelible mark on the history of Italian football and will continue to do so in the future. Gigi is an icon and a personification of the professional and human values that the game so admires; players like him have so much to teach to younger generations."
