Few matches in Italian football are as prestigious as Milan vs Juventus, but Rossoneri manager Vincenzo Montella has called for his players to not let the occasion get the better of them this Saturday.

The 42-year-old, in his first season at the club, began: “It’ll be a match full of emotion, but we can’t let ourselves lose focus. Juventus are a tough outfit and we want to give the best possible account of ourselves, but in order to do so we’ll need to stay humble, be brave and dig deep while keeping concentration high at all times.

“Even if I don’t believe that this will be a decisive game in terms of the league title, we’ll need to be at the races as we’re playing again just three days later.”

Having taken 13 points from their last five matches, Milan go into Saturday’s match in fine form as they look to bring an end to seven successive defeats against the Bianconeri – a task Montella acknowledged would be a challenge given the league leaders’ quality, but nonetheless one they would embrace.

“People are saying that Juve are ready to compete for Champions League glory. They’ve an unbelievable team.

“We need to take them on without any nerves. There doesn’t exist a sure-fire strategy to beating them. We just have to make sure that we do the right thing at the right times.”
