Alvaro Morata admitted that netting the match-winner in Saturday’s Coppa Italia final represented a dream come true as he spoke to the media shortly after the final whistle in Rome’s Stadio Olimpico.

“I’m delighted that we’ve won the double again,” he began. “To enter from the bench and score the winning goal really is the stuff of dreams. Now we’ve another cup to put in our trophy cabinet.

“My friends told me that I would be the match-winner. I’m especially happy because my father was watching on from the stands and my mother watched from home.”

The Spanish striker concluded his post-match comments by sparing a thought for the beaten finalists on the night, Milan.

“They played a great match with plenty of character and it was far from easy beating them tonight.”
