Pjanic: “Determined to win at Dinamo”

Having played his part in yesterday’s hard-fought win away to Palermo, Miralem Pjanic spent Sunday taking stock of the Bianconeri’s first month or so of the season before they go into Matchday 2 of their Champions League campaign this Tuesday against Dinamo Zagreb.

Here is a selection of the Bosnian midfielder’s standout quotes from this afternoon’s interview with Sky.

Post-Palermo thoughts

“There’s no doubt that we can play better than we did at Palermo, especially from a technical standpoint. The boss’ instructions were to win and not concede any goals and we managed exactly that, showing a temperament befitting a top side.

“It’s the big teams that win even when they’re not playing at their best. We’ve 15 out of a possible 18 league points so far this season and we’ve still plenty of room for improvement.”

Destination Dinamo Zagreb

“This week we spoke about last weekend’s disappointing loss at Inter. (Massimiliano) Allegri explained to us the areas we needed to work on and our reaction has yielded two victories. We’re now focused on Dinamo Zagreb.

“We both want and need to win, playing well and imposing our style of play on the match because it will be difficult, but our objective remains that of finishing top of the group.”

Team spirit superb

“We’re a united group and we show that at all times on the pitch. We’re all involved in the rotational policy that has to be applied given the number of games we’re playing. Every one of us makes sure that they’re at the races in training and in matches, always giving their all.

“The new signings have been bedding into the group in the best possible way. I needed a bit of time to find my feet, but right now I feel great and with every passing week I’m sure that things will continue to get better.”

Learning curve continues

“I’m ready to play wherever Allegri sees best fits, whether that’s in front of the defence, in midfield or in the hole behind the forwards. I like to get my feet on the ball and play my team-mates into goalscoring situations. Here I’m continuing to learn new things and I’m confident that I’ll keep raising my game.”
