Miralem Pjanic lauded Juventus’ attitude in their 1-0 win over Lyon in the Champions League on Tuesday night, as the ten-man Bianconeri overcame the odds to secure all three points in France.

“We knew we really wanted to get the win before the match so we never showed any fear – not even when we went down to ten men,” explained the Bosnian midfielder after the game.

“We gave it 200% after the sending off and eventually got the goal. This is a huge win. We knew it was going to be tough with ten men, but as I say we showed no fear,” added Pjanic.

The Bianconeri midfielder acknowledged that it had been a difficult match, but stressed that Juve had expected nothing less coming into the clash.

“We know there are no easy games in the Champions League and Lyon produced one of their best performances of the season tonight. Every match counts in Europe and you’re not always going to win and dominate, but we showed character and desire to get the victory tonight.”

Last but not least, Pjanic had words of praise for Gigi Buffon, whose first-half penalty save was emblematic of Juve’s never-say-die performance in France.

“It’s crazy to question him. There’s not much left to add – Gigi is always there when you need him. He’s a great person and a fantastic goalkeeper and he proved his quality once again tonight.”
