Juventus’ Primavera roared into the Viareggio Cup quarter-finals courtesy of a convincing 4-0 victory over Milan this afternoon, maintaining their 100 per cent record in the tournament so far in the process.

Weathering an early storm and riding their luck somewhat in a first quarter-hour that saw Rossoneri forward Andrea Casiraghi denied by the crossbar, it was Fabio Grosso’s side who would strike the game’s crucial opening goal on 21 minutes thanks to Nicolò Pozzebon’s tidy finish after fine work from Guido Vadala.

The in-form Argentine would play a pivotal part too in the Bianconeri’s second goal just minutes later, whipping in a fine right-wing cross for Gabriele Bove to touch home from close range and establish a commanding two-goal lead at the interval.

Instead of sitting back and preserving their advantage, the domestic league-leaders sought to extend it further and were duly rewarded for their attacking endeavour when they netted twice in the tie’s closing stages, Alessio Di Massimo calmly slotting past the goalkeeper when put through one-on-one before Fabio Morselli rounded off a perfect afternoon for Juve three minutes from time.

As ever, coach Grosso was still left asking for more from his young charges irrespective of today’s four-goal show.

Speaking after the final whistle, he stated: “We’re in for a fantastic end to the season. No game is simple whatever competition you play in and I thought we laboured a little more than we needed to today.

“There are still plenty of areas on which we can improve and we will continue to look forward and ensure that each performance we produce is better than the last.”
