So far so good this season

“We’re on course to reach the objectives that we set ourselves at the start of the season: we’re top of the league and in a good position to qualify for the next round in the Champions League and Coppa Italia.

“Leagues campaigns aren’t won in early March. We wanted to extend our lead over Roma and we managed that. The fact that we did so by not playing at our best is even more significant.”

Match-ups with Milan

“I’m sure that Juventus vs Milan will become a decisive match for the title race again in the future just like it always has been and always should be. This year they’re doing very well and credit must go to Vincenzo Montella, the players and the club as a whole.

“When I think about what happened in Doha, it was a pity missing the opportunity to lift silverware, but Milan were deserving of their win. They were humble, flawless and played some great football. That match served as a lesson to us that if we want to keep impressing, we needed to change our mentality.”

The key to keeping clean sheets

“If you’re able to keep a clean sheet, you must simply do so. A top club must never show signs of carelessness and I’ve been able to see how it’s precisely this attention to detail that is the key to everything.

“Your mental approach needs to be spot-on and you have to be in great shape physically. That’s what has happened in our last matches where we’ve conceded very few goals thanks to a real tenacity among the defenders, not to mention the strikers who work their socks off up front.”

Gigi on Gigi

“I've often sung his praises before (Milan keeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma) and I’ll do so again here. He’s proving just what an incredible talent he is.

“He’s a young lad with his feet on the ground with room to improve yet further and bags of time to do so. He’s raising his game each year and this season he’s been top drawer once again.

Talk of the treble?

“The ‘treble’ is an arduous work in footballing vocabulary, but when you’re Juventus you need to always be thinking big. We must continue to dream while remaining humble at the same time.”
