Andrea Barzagli emphasised the importance of taking all three points against Roma at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night, but admitted that his side nearly let the Giallorossi back into the game in the closing stages.

"This is a big three points," he said after the match. "We played very well for 70 minutes. Our play was good, the tempo was there and physically we did well. We should have sewn it up earlier because we came close to conceding at the end – we dropped deep but got a bit of luck.

"They had more quality going forward when [Patrik] Schick came on. He caused us more trouble in the air and worked a few nice moves, but it’s worth pointing out that all of the chances Roma had were down to our mistakes."

Barzagli also credited Juve’s change in formation for inspiring a run of seven straight clean sheets.

"Having a third central midfielder really helps," he said. "We have more protection and more of a physical presence, which makes it easier for us to cover."
