After the win away against Hellas Verona, Medhi Benatia spoke of his delight at Juve’s form and his own improved fitness.
“Finally I’ve found some consistency,” the defender said. “Last year I might play one or two matches before missing out for two or three weeks, probably because someone else deserved to play more than me.
“I’ve got a big physique and to be at my best I need to consistently get game time. When I feel good physically, I’ve always been able to contribute to the team. Now I’m working at my best, training well and I feel I’ve got the backing of the gaffer. He’s picking me out of choice and not to rest other players.”
This evening’s result means Juve stay within touching distance of Napoli, who are only one point in front.
“We need to continue in this way,” Benatia concluded. “I always say the most important thing is not to lead now but at the end of May. We should compliment them on what they’ve achieved so far, but there’s a long way still to go.”
