It was a case of job well done for Medhi Benatia as he came into the side against Chievo and helped the team keep a clean sheet - and secure an important win ahead of a huge clash against Barcelona next week.

“This is a big step we've taken today, with the game coming as it did between the international break and the Champions League. We got the job done. Now we can turn our attentions to Tuesday's match."

The 30-year-old pointed to Juve's defensive solidity as the secret to their success.

“You need a strong defence if you want to win the league and we always set out to keep a clean sheet. We have to make sure we're always as solid as we were tonight.

“We've got quality players at the back who can do that and with the guys we have up front we're always going to score sooner or later.”

The Moroccan also briefly touched on tactics before commenting on Massimiliano Allegri's rotation system.

“We did well away to Barcelona with two in midfield last year but it's up to the gaffer to pick the formation and then it's up to us to adapt.

“I just have to focus on doing my job properly. Obviously we'd all like to play all the time but it's not possible.

“You have to produce the goods whenever you're called upon. We're all ready and we respect whatever the coach decides. When we get the call, we have to turn up.”
