In the 1960s, Turin was benefitting from an industrial boom and the team was nicknamed Juventus operaia as a result.

Spurred on by a passionate Paraguayan manager in Heriberto Herrera, the Bianconeri secured the 1967 Scudetto following a dramatic final day in which they overtook Inter. 35 years later, something similar would happen, but that’s a story for another decade.

Under the inspirational captaincy of Sandro Salvadore, the Bianconeri were building another enviable side, showcasing the talents of Pietro Anastasi, Antonello Cuccureddu, Giuseppe Furino and Helmut Haller.

Then on 13 July 1971, Giampiero Boniperti assumed the role of president and the Bianconeri took no time at all in sealing yet more silverware, winning back-to-back Scudetti in 1972 and 1973 before being crowned champions of Italy once again in 1975.

With formidable forward Roberto Bettega and the likes of Fabio Capello and Franco Causio pulling the strings in midfield, there was simply no stopping the Bianconeri.
