Douglas Costa spoke today about this weekend’s standout fixture in Serie A that sees Juventus pitted against the Giallorossi at Allianz Stadium.
“Roma are a great side and they deserve our utmost respect, the winger began. “It’s true they lost in the Coppa Italia but we’re not expecting the same team on Saturday. It will be a totally different match. We want to win and that will be our aim when we step out onto the pitch. We have the quality to beat them.”
The No.11 also revealed how he’s been settling in at his new club.
“I’ve worked a lot on the tactical and defensive sides of my game in the last few months, trying hard to improve. Serie A is very different from the Bundesliga or the Ukrainian league. I still have a lot to learn but I feel confident.
“Federico Bernardeschi, Blaise Matuidi, Rodrigo Bentancur and I are all new signings and we’re working hard at developing tactically. I think it’s a learning curve: every day you learn a bit more about what it means to be at Juventus.”
Finally, Douglas gave his opinion on how the squad matches up with those at Europe’s other leading clubs.
“Juve are incredibly strong, on a par with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid. We have some of the best players in the world here. It really is a fantastic club!”
