Juventus.com looks at the weekend’s results for the Bianconeri’s upcoming Champions League opponents, Barcelona, Sporting Clube de Portugal and Olympiacos

Barcelona built up to Tuesday's Champions League match against Juventus by beating local rivals Espanyol 5-0 at the Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi marked the occasion with a hat-trick, scoring goals in the 26th, 35th and 67th minutes before Gerard Piqué and Luis Suarez joined in on the act in the closing stages.

The win keeps Barcelona top of La Liga with nine points after three games. The Catalans sit two points clear of second-placed Sevilla and four ahead of reigning champions Real Madrid.

Sporting Clube de Portugal came out on top of a thrilling 3-2 win away to Fereirense on Friday night.

Following a goalless first half, Sebastian Coates (62’) and Bruno Fernandes (65’) fired Sporting into a 2-0 lead shortly after the hour-mark.

However, the hosts fought back with two goals of their own by Joao Silva and Oghenekaro Etebo to level the scores.

Then, in the eighth minute of injury time, with the match seemingly heading for a draw, Coates drew a foul in the penalty area and Bas Dost duly converted the spot-kick to hand Sporting a fifth win from five matches.

They currently sit level on points with Porto, while Benfica are two behind.

Olympiacos were held to a 1-1 draw away to Xanthi on Saturday evening.

After taking a 12th-minute lead through Bjorn Engels, the hosts hit back with a goal from Christos Lisgaras before half-time.

The Athens club, who will visit Juventus on Matchday two of the Champions League, remain a point ahead of second-placed Panionios having played a game more.
