By 1958 the Bianconeri were celebrating their 10th Scudetto title, a hugely symbolic feat, as this meant that the first star could be sewn into their famous black and white shirts.

Juventus now boasted a truly formidable attacking line-up. With Omar Sivori and John Charles teaming up with Giampiero Boniperti, the team was scoring goals for fun en route to further league championships in 1960 and 1961 and a trio of Coppa Italia titles (1959, 1960 and 1965) to take their tally to five in the competition.

Charles, nicknamed Il Gigante Buono, for his towering physical presence and exceptional manners on the pitch, was Serie A’s top scorer in his first season, Sivori won the Ballon d’Or in 1961 for his simply magical and mesmerising displays, while Boniperti was gracing the end of a distinguished playing career before going on to achieve further glory as president.
