There was one thing that Real Madrid’s Zinedine Zidane, Sergio Ramos and Marcelo could agree on in Friday night’s pre-match press conference at the National Stadium of Wales: in a final, anything can happen.

Real will look to become the first team to defend a European crown in the Champions League era against Juventus tomorrow, a fact that does not make Madrid favourites for the title this time around according to Zidane, Ramos and Marcelo.

RAMOS

“All the talk stops tomorrow night. From now on, the figures don’t count; we can’t afford to start thinking about a third trophy in four seasons yet.

“Juventus are a fantastic team and we have immense respect for them. Both sides fully deserve to be here.

“As is the case in any final, our chances are 50-50. The mentality of the group is such that we strive to win every prize possible. We don’t live on our past successes; we do everything we can to win on the pitch.”

ZIDANE

“We’re delighted to have reached the final again and we’re looking forward to playing our part in a brilliant showpiece event. It would be truly special to win a second Champions League title in a row.

“I want my team to put on a show tomorrow night and I hope we can deliver on the big stage. Juve are strong and will be very difficult to break down; we all know how well they defend but this is a team that can do so much more than that.”

MARCELO

“We have to give our all tomorrow. We’re aware of this club’s rich history in Europe and we know exactly what is expected of us.

“Winning two finals in a row would be truly extraordinary.”
