Mattia De Sciglio and Federico Bernardeschi share their thoughts after the draw with Tottenham

    DE SCIGLIO

“We made the mistake of dropping too deep. We knew this would be a tough game – they are a very good side. They do give you chances at the back, but in attack they are excellent.”

The Bianconeri full-back adds: “In the first half we stayed behind the ball, to stop them finding passes through the middle, but in doing that we were too deep to launch effective counter attacks. We needed to stay more compact and we also gave the ball away too frequently. We know it’ll be tough at Wembley too, but we need to start with what we showed in the first ten minutes this evening.”

    BERNARDESCHI

“Did we score too early? No, we played well against a strong side. It’s a shame we drew 2-2 but we still have the return leg and we know that we can go and win in London. We were bound to come under pressure after the first ten minutes, you can’t keep up that intensity for the whole match. We showed desire and ruthlessness – we didn’t deserve to draw.”
