German defender, Benedikt Howedes is targeting a domestic double as his first season at the club draws to a close

    FIRST MAJOR HONOUR

"Winning Serie A would be my first major title, I've previously won the German Cup and German Supercup with Schalke 04 but never a league title. It would be an amazing achievement for me and hopefully we can continue to play well until the end of the season.

"I think we've had a lot of moments in the season where there's been several big matches in a row, and we've also had a lot of games to contend with. The important thing is that we keep going and carry on pushing forward until the end of the season."

    HIGHS & LOWS

"My favourite moment was scoring my first goal for the club against Sampdoria, the fans were cheering for me and all of the team and the staff were happy for me, it was a really nice moment.

"The most difficult part for me was being out injured for a long time, it was a bad start to my Juventus career to get an injury right away and then pick up another one. I can’t change anything about the past, and right now I just have to focus on the present and on the last few games, and hopefully we can win the title, that is my wish."

    WINNING MENTALITY

"The club’s slogan is 'Fino Alla Fine', and this is perfect because we’ve had a lot of games this season where we've been up against it, but we’ve stuck it out and struck right at the end. We never give up and this is also the mentality of the whole club and this makes us proud.

"We have a lot of great players so nobody has really surprised me with their ability, but I think Gigi is always a player that you have to respect. He’s 40 now and is having such a good a season, it's incredible how he still plays with so much heart and he is such a down-to-earth guy. He welcomed me with kisses when I arrived and he made it easy for me to integrate into the team, he is a very open guy and very successful."

    FUTURE PLANS

"We’re waiting until we finish the season before we discuss my future, because the most important thing for us is winning the title and the Coppa Italia. Unfortunately, I haven’t played that much but right now I'm in good shape and I've played a few games in row, so now I can show my quality and after the season is over we can sit down and talk."
