A brace from Medhi Benatia, a long-distance effort from Douglas Costa and a Nikola Kalinic own-goal saw Juve romp to a 4-0 win to lift the TIM Cup for the fourth year running

The Bianconeri made history in Rome after winning their fourth consecutive Coppa Italia, with four second-half goals in the space of 20 minutes proving too much for Milan.

With the pre-match storm letting up right at kick-off, it was a perfect night in the capital for a cup final. Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Patrick Cutrone combined to nearly put Milan up after eight minutes with some neat one-two work, but Gianluigi Buffon stood strong to deny Cutrone’s rasping effort from ten yards out.

Juve would then begin to gain control of the match, with Mario Mandzukic going closest for the Bianconeri, but his 36th-minute header from Juan Cuadrado’s cross was straight at Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Bianconeri would come out in the second half putting their foot on the gas and they duly took the lead in the 56th minute. Miralem Pjanic swung in an inch-perfect cross meeting the head of Medhi Benatia who expertly steered it into the far corner for his third goal of the season.

On a night that saw lots of rain at the Stadio Olimpico, the floodgates would open on the pitch soon after with a quick-fire double from the Bianconeri. Cuadrado would find space down the wing before sliding it to Douglas Costa at the top of the box. His hard effort was too much for Donnarumma sliding through the keeper’s hands and doubling Juve’s advantage in the 61st minute.

Just three minutes later it was incredibly a third for the Bianconeri as Donnarumma couldn’t hold on to Mandzukic’s header with Benatia perfectly placed to tap home sending the fans into a frenzy at the Olimpico.

The stunning nine-minute Bianconeri blitzkrieg would be more than enough for Massimiliano Allegri’s side who saw out the final half hour in fine fashion with an own goal from Nikola Kalinic rounding out the emphatic 4-0 scoreline.

Juventus have now one-up’d their record of winning the Coppa Italia for three years in succession by going on to make it four years in a row, as they lifted the trophy in front of a host of Bianconeri supporters who made the trip to Rome to cheer on their now 13-time cup winners!
