In the third match of the season between the two Serie A heavyweights, a 45th minute goal from Valentina Giacinti would give Brescia a 0-1 win in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

In the Vinovo rain, the Juventus Women nearly took the lead on 11 minutes when Benedetta Glionna spun free down the left side sliding a pass to Sofia Cantore who was unmarked in front of goal. Cantore fired just wide as Brescia goalkeeper Chiara Marchitelli closed down quickly.

In the 20th minute, Cantore nearly made up for the miss sending a shot in that was well-saved by the feet of Marchitelli.

Despite dominating most of the half, the visitors would take the lead just before half-time as Giacinti pounced on an error at the back for the Juventus Women tapping home from close range to put Brescia up 0-1 after 45 minutes.

The second half was a tight affair as Brescia held onto their slim lead with the Juventus Women holding most of the possession but unable to craft out many chances.

There were half-opportunities through second half substitutes Arianna Caruso and Sanni Franssi, but Rita Guarino’s side was unable to find the equalize as the Juventus Women fell 0-1 to Brescia in the Coppa Italia Quarter-final.

Two matches remain in the Serie A season as Juventus and Brescia remained tied at the top. The Bianconere will travel to Verona to face Fimauto Valpolicella on Saturday afternoon.
