Mario Mandzukic and Cristiano Ronaldo were the names on the score sheet as Juve triumphed against AC Milan but Wojciech Szczesny's contribution was no less important – his penalty save from Gonzalo Higuain with the game poised at 1-0 worth as much as a goal. “I know Gonzalo and I know how he takes penalties but he knows me too,” Szczesny said after the match. “It went well. I knew he'd go hard and low and I got a bit of luck. “We played the game we needed to play and got the opener after eight minutes. After that we lowered the tempo and kept possession. We controlled proceedings and put the game to bed in the second half.” The 28-year-old also discussed life as Juventus No.1 following Gigi Buffon's departure in the summer. “It's my first year as Juve's first-choice keeper and it's important to play regularly. "The boss has shown great confidence in me and that helps a lot. Mattia [Perin] is a top keeper and having him around motivates me even more. “When you play behind a defence like ours you don't concede many but you have to stay on your toes at all times because you have less to do during the game.”
