Juventus got off to a flyer in the first-half, as a brace from Sami Khedira either side of an Alex Sandro opener and a Miralem Pjanic rocket gave Juve a half-time lead. Before La Vecchia Signora well and truly wrapped things up in the second half courtesy of a Gonzalo Higuain hat-trick to hand Juve their biggest win of the season so far, and their joint all-time biggest win at the Allianz Stadium.

The Bianconeri got the ball rolling after nine minutes of play, as a corner was played short and although Sassuolo cleared the initial danger they were left reeling when a follow-up ball fell to the feet of Alex Sandro and the Brazilian lashed home to put Juve 1-0 up. Great work from Higuain saw him steal the ball in midfield before running towards goal and shooting from the byline to force a save out of Andrea Consigli for another corner, from which the Bianconeri doubled their lead. Pjanic’s corner was flicked onto the far post by the head of Alex Sandro and Khedira was on hand to tap home.

Just two minutes later and Khedira got his second of the game as the German midfielder ran onto a delicious ball over the top from Pjanic that sent him through on goal, and Khedira kept his composure to slot past Consigli to make it three. Khedira soon returned the favour, as a ball into the German from the left was smartly cutback to Pjanic on the edge of the box, with the Bosnian unleashing a first-time rocket into the roof of the net to put Juventus 4-0 up at half-time.

The second half saw Juve carry on where they left off with Higuain getting in on the act in the 63rd minute as Federico Bernardeschi did well to slip a good ball into the Argentine on the edge of the box who turned well to shoot low and into the corner of the net to make it five. Substitute Claudio Marchisio then turned provider when his long ball up-field found Higuain in space, and Pipita showed great skill to dribble round Consigli and roll the ball into an empty net. Higuain completed his hat-trick seven minutes from time as a fantastic ball from Bernardeschi was rolled into his path, with Pipita again showing his class as he chipped over the oncoming Consigli from an acute angle to make it 7-0.

After a fantastic performance today Juve will next head to Fiorentina on Friday 9 February in Serie A, before welcoming Tottenham in the Champions League.
