BRAZILIAN BOMBER

Alex Sandro said after the match that he would play “wherever he’s needed” and on Sunday he was asked to play up in the attack with Mario Mandzukic out due to sickness. The Brazilian ended up scoring the match-winner, but provided much more than just that completing over 90% of his passes, contesting 15 duels and nearly earning an assist on multiple occasions.

After an up and down first half of the campaign, you can see the confidence flowing through the Brazilian with goals in two of his last three Serie A matches.

WHATEVER IT TAKES

The Bianconeri were forced to make an early change in the 15th minute as Gonzalo Higuain, with eight goals in his last five matches, couldn’t continue after taking a knock just minutes into the match. Playing on the road at a rival, this type of change could have disrupted many teams, but this Juventus side was able to bind together and pick up the load.

It was truly a full team effort on Sunday getting the goal they needed and defending resolutely to pick up three points in adverse conditions.

BERNA STAYS HOT

Make it five straight Serie A matches with a goal or an assist from the summer signing. Perhaps he came on a bit earlier than expected, replacing Gonzalo Higuain in the 15th minute, but Bernardeschi was prepared from the off.

It was a brilliant assist for the young Italian wriggling past his defender before sending in the driven cross that left Alex Sandro with the simplest of finishes.

LA JOYA RETURNS

What a welcome sight it was for the Bianconeri as Paulo Dybala made his return to the pitch after more than a month out in the 66th minute. It was an active session for La Joya completing 100% of his passes and taking a team-high three shots in the match.

He’ll want to have a couple of the chances back, but it’s further-more encouraging to see him get into those positions because you know the goals will come.

ANOTHER BRICK WALL PERFORMANCE

We’re running out of things to say about the Juve defense who posted another clean sheet on Sunday at the Olimpico. A great strike from Martin Caceres against Verona is the only time the Bianconeri back line have been breached in the last 12 Serie A matches and Giorgio Chiellini is looking as in-form as he ever has in Juventus boots.
