Juventus first, Napoli second, or vice versa. Despite there not being many occasions where the two sides have faced each other in this scenario, they have always proved to be entertaining encounters.

20 APRIL 1958

Juventus arrived at the San Paolo in first place in the Serie A standings with Napoli in second, with the Neapolitans having won the earlier season encounter 3-1 in Turin.

The home side take the lead after just four minutes through Luis Vinicio, Juve replied however two minutes later via Gino Stacchini. Luigi Brugola netted another goal for Napoli to ensure they would go into the half in front. Stracchini tied the game up at 2-2 with another goal in the 58th minute, before Napoli came again with another strike from Vinicio. The Old Lady again levelled when Antonio Montico dramatically scored in the 86th minute, however there would be a further sting in the tail as Gino Bertucco netted the winner in the 88th.

Despite a thrilling 4-3 victory for Napoli, Juventus would go on to win the Scudetto that season.

20 OCTOBER 2012 & 1 MARCH 2013

Juve lead the way on both of these tight encounters, with the first meeting between the two on the eighth matchday of the season.

At home on 20 October, the Bianconeri breakthrough doesn't arrive until 10 minutes from time when Martin Caceres heads in from a Pirlo corner to send the Allianz Stadium into delirium. La Vecchia Signora would go on to seal it just two minutes later with a sizzling left-footed volley from Paul Pogba to win it 2-0 for Juve.

In the return game in Naples on 1 March, Juve go ahead after 10 minutes when Giorgio Chiellini heads home but Napoli would level in the 43rd via a deflected Gokhan Inler strike to tie the match at 1-1.

Napoli would arrive in Turin first in the league standings with the Bianconeri knowing that a win would surpass them.

The match proves to be a tight encounter, both sides not willing to give an inch and fighting hard for every ball. The game looks to be heading towards a 0-0 stalemate until the 88th minute, when substitute Simone Zaza did this...
