It was always meant to be. Claudio Marchisio has Juventus in his blood and there was never any doubt in the midfielder’s mind that one day he would represent his boyhood team.
Beginning in the Bianconeri youth setup, Claudio was the captain of an unstoppable Primavera side, becoming a part of the first team and then gaining international recognition. In Serie B, he showed his qualities wearing the black and white shirt, before enjoying a loan spell at Empoli the following season. Marchisio celebrated his return to Turin in 2008 by becoming a husband and father.
He has often been compared to Marco Tardelli, and there is a clear resemblance: a strong engine, two good feet and always looking to break forward into dangerous areas. These bursting runs from midfield often result in goals, such as his strike against Inter on 5th December 2009 – pure class.
A mainstay of Antonio Conte’s two Scudetto-winning title sides, Marchisio will be hoping to continue his strong form both domestically and on the European scene over the course of the 2013/14 campaign.
