Intertoto Cup

The InterToto is a summer football tournament set up by UEFA and destined to those European teams that have finished their Leagues in the positions immediatly behind the ones granting partecipation in the UEFA Cup.

Intertoto Cup 1999

To obtain a place in the UEFA Cup 1999/2000 competition, Juve were forced to cut their summer break short and participate in the Intertoto Cup. It began on 18th July, against the Romanian side Ceahlăul Piatra Neamţ. The Bianconeri made hard work of their task, and drew twice with Tacchinardi’s goal in the 1-1 away leg proving decisive. Two goal fests (4-0 away and 5-1 at home) settled the encounter with Rostelmasch

In the final, on 10th August in Cesena, the Bianconeri won the first leg 2-0 against Stade Rennais with a double from Inzaghi, and drew 2-2 in the second leg in Rennes, clinching the trophy.
