A project designed for children who, for social or financial reasons, would otherwise be unable to take part in the Juventus Soccer Schools scheme
Developed in collaboration with Turin’s UNESCO Center (under the patronage of UNESCO Italy) and Juventus Soccer Schools, Gioca Con Me (Play With Me) offers children who are at risk of social marginalisation the chance to join Juventus Football Club academies.
Every year the UNESCO Centre selects 22 children of primary-school age who, for social or financial reasons, would otherwise be unable to take part in the Juventus Soccer Schools scheme.
Each child, providing they maintain the criteria for which they were selected, follows a three-year training programme.
From September to June the children are fully integrated in the Juventus Primi Calci/Juventus Soccer Schools setup and wear the NIKE/Juventus kit. The activities are run in complete safety by coaches who have been trained at Juventus University.
The UNESCO Centre organises a course on solidarity and responsibility for families and for people working in schools and sports.
The Juventus Training Centre and the Juventus Soccer Schools Study Centre monitor activities and examine the technical and psychological programmes used with the team and families.
Having completed a successful debut 2012/13 campaign, Gioca Con Me is now ready to build on its strong foundations by welcoming a fresh intake of 22 in September, meaning a total of 44 youngsters will be registered on the scheme. This number will subsequently increase to 66 for the 2014/15 season.
