The Frenchman reflects on the wondergoal that finished Juventus’ 3-0 win against Napoli in style: “I initially miscontrolled it, but from there I’d say it went well!”
Paul Pogba tonight netted a memorable goal for the second home game against Napoli in a row, following last year’s left-footed volley from all of 30 yards – his first ever strike for the club – with an arguably even better one this time around.
The French midfielder appeared to tee himself up before firing past a helpless Pepe Reina but, speaking after the final whistle, he described how tonight’s strike actually started with a beautiful mistake: “I initially miscontrolled it, but from there I’d say it went well!
“I’m happy with the goal and the victory. We burst out of the blocks and played a great game. It wasn't straightforward, Napoli are a very strong side, but it’s never easy in this league.”
The 20-year-old is improving every game before our very eyes, and he attributed his development to various aspects: “Training and playing alongside plenty of champions helps me to develop. Hearing the manager's belief in me is also a good motivation.”
Tonight’s victory puts Juve within just a point of leaders Roma in Serie A, but Pogba concluded by reiterating that producing good performances is Juve’s main focus: “We mustn't look at the league table. We'll focus on trying to play as we did tonight and the results will come.”
