With the Chilean’s 18th goal of the season proving not enough to overcome Fiorentina, he urges the team to concentrate on making the most of the second leg in Fiorentina
Marking himself out as a crucial force in the centre of the Juve park once again with his 18th goal of the season in tonight’s 1-1 draw with Fiorentina, Arturo Vidal has called on his team-mates to out-pass the Viola when they meet again in the decisive Europa League last 16 second leg.
Speaking to the media after the final whistle, the 26-year-old began: “We never thought it was going to be simple because Fiorentina are a strong side. We may have drawn here, but there are still 90 minutes of action to go.
“We were forced to chase them around a bit: they knock the ball around well and it’s tough facing a team who move it through the middle. Now we need to go and dictate the tempo in Florence.”
The Chilean has been on superb goalscoring form this season thanks to his marauding box-to-box runs, and concluded by confirming that he’s enjoying playing in that role.
“I like the position the boss lines me up in, but if he asked me to play a more advanced role then I’d do it quite happily.”
