After clocking up his tenth league goal of the season, the Spanish hitman commends the work of the group as a whole in overcoming Chievo Verona at Juventus Stadium this afternoon
Fernando Llorente has praised the group effort that bore the fruit of this afternoon’s 3-1 win over Chievo Verona at Juventus Stadium.
Speaking after Paolo Valeri’s final whistle blew on the Bianconeri’s 12th victory in as many games at their home ground, the 28-year-old began: “We put in a good shift and I'm happy with the result. It’s always important for me to get on the scoresheet and help the team.”
It was a good performance from all eleven Bianconeri, but the Spaniard in particular demonstrated once again today that there’s no-one better to have ready to pounce in the centre with a cross imminent.
The header he powered home on 58 minutes was his sixth in the 2013/14 Serie A campaign - a current record for the season in Europe’s top five leagues - and it was also the point at which the game was effectively put to bed.
“An element of doubt crept in when Chievo scored - we hadn’t been moving the ball around as quickly as on other days - but we immediately got the third and in the end we managed to win it.”
