The midfielder reflects on tonight’s 3-0 success over Torino: “It was important to get back to winning ways"
Local boy Claudio Marchisio was delighted after his double helped the Bianconeri to a 3-0 win over inter-city neighbours Torino at Juventus Staidum.
Marchisio, alongside Paolo De Ceglie and Sebastian Giovinco, was one of three homegrown prospects in Antonio Conte’s side, and will have been under no illusions regarding the derby’s importance to the black and white faithful.
Reflecting on his brace, Marchisio said: “It’s not the first double I’ve scored in the derby, but this one definitely counts a great deal more. It was important to get back to winning ways after the bad game in Milan and we took to the field this evening with plenty of determination. I felt this was evident, even though Glik’s sending off made things a little easier for us.
“These are important points as far as our league campaign’s concerned and enable us to stay at the top. But they’re also important for the Champions League, as we still need to guarantee qualification. I won’t be there in Donetsk but my team-mates will certainly do a good job.”
