Conte hails important victory

Juve’s boss addresses the media: “Napoli’s success put a bit of pressure on us but we managed to win again and take a potentially decisive step”

Antonio Conte spoke of his delight after guiding the Bianconeri to a hard-fought 1-0 success over a rejuvenated Milan side at Juventus Stadium.

The Rossoneri approached the encounter in devastating form but saw their 14-match unbeaten run go up in smoke after Arturo Vidal’s second-half penalty resolved a cagey affair.

The victory puts Juventus on the brink of completing a second consecutive Scudetto triumph, prompting Conte to emphasise his desire to wrap up the title as soon as possible.

The 43-year-old said: “I don’t think there’s any doubt about the penalty. Milan played a great game, they were coming off the back of a good run of results and beat us in the reverse fixture. It’s really satisfying to be 18 points ahead of them.

“Napoli’s win put a bit of pressure on us but we managed to win again and take a potentially decisive step. I don’t want to think about when or against whom the decisive victory could come, I’m only interested in closing off the Scudetto race.

“After that, we can celebrate and relax following a very demanding season. We know all about Torino’s desire to beat us and about the hidden dangers that await us in Sunday’s derby.”
