The former Cagliari frontman speaks of his delight at tonight’s double at the Stadio Tardini
Alessandro Matri celebrated his return to the goal trail by lifting the Bianconeri to victory over former employers Cagliari.
The Juventus frontman, who was last on target in the 4-1 win over Roma on 29 September, was visibly delighted to have come off the bench and inspired his team to a deserved success.
Speaking after the win at Parma’s Stadio Tardini, 28-year-old said: “There was a strange atmosphere today and any team would have found it difficult to play here.
“We didn’t play well, but we’ll take the positives out of the game. I’ve been looking for a goal for quite some time now, but I’ve always believed in myself.
“Your morale does take a bit of a hit when you don’t score, but the great group we have enables you to overcome these difficulties. We’ve sent out a good message to those chasing us, who will play with an added pressure tomorrow.”
