Conte: “We deserved better”

The Juve manager analyses tonight’s draw with Lazio: “I’m only disappointed about the result itself, we’ll hope for better luck in the second leg”

Antonio Conte insists he cannot fault his side for their performance in tonight’s Coppa Italia semi final first leg draw with Lazio at Juventus Stadium.

The 43-year-old believes the Bianconeri were unfortunate to be pegged back in the closing stages and hopes for a little more luck when they travel to Rome for next Tuesday’s decisive encounter.

Speaking after the final whistle, Conte said: “The only thing I’m disappointed about is the result itself. We played an excellent game and deserved better.

“Lazio are a fine team and will compete for the title, but have had an element of luck on their side in our two meetings so far this season.

“We hope to have a bit more fortune than they do in the second leg, but we’ll give it a good go in Rome.

“I’m still satisfied. Despite the absentees, we showed once again that the mentality doesn’t change and the lads are all singing from the same hymn sheet.”
