Another fearless performance, and another decisive goal at Juventus Stadium. Carlos Tevez gives his post-match verdict on a triumph he is pleased to have sealed with an excellent strike
Carlos Tevez has expressed his satisfaction with managing to seal such an important win over Torino with such a wonderful goal this evening at Juventus Stadium.
With his customarily outstanding determination, fighting to make the difference at every opportunity, his performance in tonight’s triumph was the incarnation of Derby della Mole spirit.
The 30-year-old’s winner was more than worthy of the occasion, too, controlling the ball, turning and firing into the corner in one fluid movement to sink the Granata and lift Juve to their sixth consecutive Serie A triumph over their inter-city rivals.
Commenting on the strike after the final whistle, Tevez began: “It was a great goal. I saw I had a bit of space when the ball came to me, turned well and made a good connection. The celebration? I was pretending to play the horn!”
Tevez is always content to run himself into the ground in his desire to reach every ball first, but on an occasion as significant as the derby the Argentine knew that an extra effort would be required.
“I'm happy with tonight's win. We were aware of Torino's qualities and knew we'd have to fight and grit our teeth.
“For the first 25 minutes of the second half, Toro waited for us to come at them. Then they upped the intensity and started attacking.”
In the end, the team rallied to follow his tireless example, holding on well to secure a win that Tevez concluded by describing as an important one.
“We contained Torino well in the final stages and held on to clinch a great victory.”
