The full-back on target against Parma for the second year in succession
Stephan Lichtsteiner was all smiles as he spoke of his joy at netting on the opening day against Parma for the second year running.
The Swiss full-back said: “We won and we’re happy, because that was our aim, but you didn’t see the real Juve in the first half. Credit to Parma, they played an excellent game, but we still need to work. We grew in stature in the second half and found more space after breaking the deadlock.”
The 28-year-old concluded by responding to the inevitable question concerning Conte’s absence from the dugout.
“The manager is important and knows the right words to motivate us when he’s nearby. But we’ve also shown that we’re able to make up for his absence.”
