Tevez: “It couldn’t have gone any better”

The man who inspired Juve to their 2-1 win over Parma describes a perfect evening at Juventus Stadium

Carlos Tevez has described Juventus’ 2-1 win over Parma as the perfect evening, both for the two goals he netted himself and the latest success clocked up by the side he has become such an emblem of.

The Argentine inspired the Bianconeri to their 15th consecutive home win in the league, and to crown another eye-catching performance he even regained top spot in the Serie A goalscorers table with an emphatic leap above Torino’s Ciro Immobile.

Commenting on his night after the final whistle blew, Tevez began:  “It really couldn’t have gone any better. I’m happy to have scored the goals, but the most important thing is that the team won and matched the winning record.”

Tevez came flying out of the traps to net both of his goals within 32 minutes, but admitted that fatigue came into play slightly towards the end of tonight’s clash.

“It was a great game. In the first half we played very well, and although we tailed off a little after the break I think that’s normal given how many matches we’re playing. It’s hard to maintain such a high tempo all the time.”

The focus of the interview then turned to his lofty standing as Serie A’s current top scorer, but the striker stressed that his own thoughts are far from it.

“I’m not thinking about that particular table. What interests me is winning the Scudetto with Juve.”

The only blemish on an otherwise spotless evening was the yellow card that means the 30-year-old will miss out on Sunday’s trip to Naples next Sunday, but the man himself concluded with a positive take on it.

“It’s a shame because I always want to be out there, in every game. But on the plus side I’ll be fresh for Lyon.”
