The Bianconeri boss hails tonight’s deserved victory against FC Copenhagen before turning his attentions to the trip to Istanbul, where a draw against Galatasaray would see his side through to the Champions League knockout stages
Juventus have consistently played well in this year’s Champions League campaign without necessarily getting the results their performances merited, but tonight they emerged with a 3-1 win for their efforts against FC Copenhagen, a scoreline which Antonio Conte believes was fully deserved.
Speaking to the media just after the final whistle blew at Juventus Stadium, the 44-year-old tactician began: “We deserved tonight's win, even though we made life difficult for ourselves with the goal conceded from a dead ball situation. But then we did well to lift ourselves and score the second and third goals.”
With a solitary point now needed away at Galatasaray to seal qualification for the knockout stages given the Turks’ defeat to Real Madrid this evening, it’s that objective that is now on Conte’s mind.
“We know what’s in store, but also that we’re the ones who have put ourselves in this situation by not managing to win the first two games.
“Nonetheless, it's not in our make-up to play for a draw in Istanbul, so we'll be going for a win as ever. It’s important to know that it’s all in our hands now.”
