The Bianconeri boss hails his men following this afternoon’s success over Genoa: “It was vital we played with the correct attitude today. We dominated proceedings and could even have won by a greater margin”
Antonio Conte revealed his delight after seeing the Bianconeri resume normal service with this afternoon’s confident 2-0 victory over Genoa at Juventus Stadium.
Elements of misfortune had characterised the team’s last two outings against Fiorentina and Real Madrid, but today there was no room for recriminations as the hosts reaped the full rewards of an emphatic display.
Speaking after the final whistle, the 44-year-old said: “It was a good performance, as we also saw in parts of our games in Florence and Madrid.
"The difference this time around was that we got what we deserved. We played with a good attitude, vital when facing a competent side like Genoa. We dominated proceedings and could have even scored more and, for once, we managed to keep a clean sheet.”
This afternoon saw the Spanish-speaking strike duo of Tevez and Llorente fielded for a third successive encounter, and the Juventus manager believes there is plenty more to come from his hard-working frontmen.
“I’m very happy with how the strikers fared. Tevez and Llorente are fitting in extremely well and are showing that they’re increasingly getting in tune with our style of play.”
A late Michael Bradley goal in Udine dashed the Bianconeri’s hopes of closing the gap at on league leaders Roma, leaving Conte to compliment Rudi Garcia’s men on a formidable start to the season.
He concluded: “I can only take my hat off to Roma. Their winning run is overshadowing anything good that ourselves and Napoli are producing.”
