Antonio Conte has praised the versatility of Luca Marrone and Stephan Lichtsteiner following their solid displays in the Bianconeri’s 2-0 win over Hertha Berlin.
Marrone, usually a central midfielder, showed class and composure as a makeshift centre-back, while Lichtsteiner, deployed alongside the 22-year-old in a central role, was as combative as ever.
Speaking shortly after the final whistle, Conte said: “I’m happy about the test, in particular with those who were required to play in a different position, like Marrone and Lichtsteiner.”
But Conte realises that there is still plenty more work to be done before Juventus open their season with August’s Super Cup final against Napoli.
“Certain players still need to absorb the workload, while others still need to adapt to the mechanisms we use. These are elements to consider, thinking back to the moments of the game when we suffered the most.”
