The club director believes the Bianconeri were below par in Milan: “We won’t make excuses: penalty or not, we didn’t see a usual Juventus display”
Giuseppe Marotta refused to make excuses for the Bianconeri’s display in tonight’s 1-0 reverse to Milan.
On the contentious penalty which separated the sides, Marotta said: “These things even themselves out over the course of the season. Without the penalty it would have been a goalless shutout. Aside from that, it wasn’t the usual Juventus performance and therefore we won’t make any excuses.
“We need to get used to competing in a greater number of competitions so tiredness shouldn’t be an excuse. We had four days to recover. The fact remains that we didn’t approach the game in our usual manner.”
Tonight’s draw was the Bianconeri’s second championship game without a goal.
Offering an explanation for the lack of firepower, Marotta concluded: “We’ve come up against two sides whose tactical approaches have given us difficulty in unlocking their defences.”
