The scorer of Juve’s winner against the Gialloblu reflects on the three points taken home from a challenging test: “It was a difficult and important match, but we got the job done”
Paul Pogba weighed in with another vital Serie A goal away from home this evening to ensure that Juventus emerged from their clash with Parma at the Tardini still snapping at the heels of league leaders Roma.
Speaking after the final whistle, the French midfielder described it as a “precious” triumph, not least because of the challenge posed by the opposition: “It was a difficult and important match today, but we got the job done. Parma were experiencing a good run of form and it wasn’t easy to overcome them.”
The 20-year-old also offered a word on his third goal of the 2013/14 campaign, which required perfect technique to keep the ball down even if the chance did fall fortuitously to him after Fabio Quagliarella’s marvellous long-range effort hit the crossbar: “I thought that Fabio’s shot was going in, but I followed it up anyway and I managed to score.”
Pogba concluded by turning his attentions to Real Madrid’s visit to Juventus Stadium on Tuesday for the much-anticipated Champions league clash that will now be on every Bianconeri mind, offering a telling observation: “We have to win because it’s a vital game.”
