Asamoah’s Ghana move closer to qualification

The Bianconeri midfielder receives a place in the starting line-up for Ghana as they record a 2-0 win over Lesotho in their 2014 World Cup qualifier

Kwadwo Asamoah lined up for Ghana in their penultimate match of Group D as they registered a 2-0 away triumph over Lesotho in their 2014 World Cup qualifier.

The Juventus midfielder featured for the full 90 minutes of the encounter and put on an impressive performance to help his side take another step towards qualification.

John Boye gave the visitors the lead just before the interval and then Asamoah Gyan sealed victory by providing the two-goal cushion with six minutes left to play.

The result sees Ghana climb to the top of Group D and establish a one point lead over Zambia. The group’s top two sides will go head-to-head on 6 September in a direct shootout for a first place finish.
