After receiving a magnificent reception from American fans, the Bianconeri repay the favour by inviting the Juventus Southern California Supporters Club to spend a memorable afternoon at AT&T Park
The Bianconeri’s 12-day stay in California was greeted by great enthusiasm by American-based Juventus supporters, who flocked in their numbers to catch a glimpse of their heroes at San Francisco’s AT&T Park and Los Angeles’ Dodgers Stadium.
The sea of black and white shirts turning out for the team’s first two Guinness International Champions Cup fixtures not only gave a clear indication of the club’s ever-growing fan base overseas, but also provided a fascinating insight into the sheer effort and dedication that goes into following Antonio Conte’s men from thousands of miles away.
Leading the way in California is the Juventus Southern California Supporters Club, a fan organisation established in August 2011. Founded by Farhad Sadikhov and originally promoted on social networking platforms Facebook and Twitter, the club now keeps supporters abreast of latest developments on its detailed website and through weekly English language podcasts.
In Farhad’s own words “Juventus brings people together” and the Southern California Supporters Club goes to great efforts to ensure that like-minded Bianconeri fans can share their opinions and watch the matches on a regular basis.
The club, which has over 700 followers, has been growing in popularity ever since its inception and recently celebrated its second anniversary in style by watching Antonio Conte’s men train before meeting the players for some photographs at AT&T Park stadium.
Describing his delight at a memorable day out, Farhad said: "Living in Los Angeles we are often spoiled by celebrity sightings. And we are used to the fact that when you meet someone you've admired your whole life they may not live up to expectations, leaving you disappointed. But meeting and seeing Juventus players, our childhood idols turned out to be exactly how we imagined. It proved why people follow Juventus their whole lives - they truly take care of their fans and show that their fans mean a lot to the players. Fino Alla Fine!"
