The club CEO conveys his delight at the Chilean’s desire to extend his stay in Turin: “Arturo is one of the players who best represents what we’re all about and we’re proud that we can continue together”
Giuseppe Marotta has expressed his delight after Arturo Vidal affirmed his desire to continue his career with Juventus.
Since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in July 2011, the Chilean has played an integral role in restoring the Bianconeri to the pinnacle of Italian football with back-to-back Scudetto successes.
And whilst Vidal’s superb performances have naturally attracted admiring glances from other top European clubs, Marotta believes last season’s top scorer is in the perfect place to fulfill his ambitions.
Speaking in Chatillon at the unveiling of the Bianconeri’s new partnership with Bwin, the club CEO began: “The fact he’s said it would be a real pleasure for him to stay here with Juventus is something that also goes for us. Arturo is one of the players who best represents what we’re all about and we’re proud that we can continue together.
“These are the classic goings on of the summer transfer market. I don’t believe Vidal’s contract is a problem today, and I don’t think it will be in the future either.”
Marotta concluded by pouring cold water on rumours that continue to link Fiorentina frontman Stevan Jovetic with a move to Turin.
“Our recent signings mean we’re perfectly satisfied with our strikeforce. The arrival of Carlos Tevez gives us options which would make the pursuit of Jovetic unnecessary. It’s something we gave up on a while ago.”
