The captain assesses tonight’s defeat to Napoli as something that could see the Bianconeri bounce back even stronger
Gigi Buffon has said he hopes tonight’s defeat to Napoli will kick-start a strong run of form just like the one Juventus enjoyed after their last Serie A loss at the hands of Fiorentina.
Speaking to the media in Naples, the 36-year-old began: “Sometimes a defeat can ultimately spark a great run of results, just like has happened in the past; hopefully it will have a similar effect in the future.”
But very few players are more experienced than the Bianconeri captain, and he showed it when he went on to say that they must remain on their guard seeing as chasers Roma have a game in hand.
“The championship is wide open. Roma have the chance to reduce the gap to just eight points and could go for a big final push”
Considering this evening’s game, the goalkeeper sportingly conceded that the best team won on the night: “Without looking to make excuses, I think Napoli deserved to win this game. We didn’t express our style of play as best we can because of absences and the heavy fixture schedule.”
