Federico Mattiello’s double and an effort from Younes Bnou Marzouk in an explosive introduction to the restart seal all three points for the young Bianconeri in Emilia-Romagna
After falling to a narrow defeat against Bologna last Saturday, the Primavera ensured this week’s return to Emilia-Romagna was a much happier one with a 3-1 win over Sassuolo.
The final outcome was sewn up during an explosive 15 minutes at the start of the second half, in which Federico Mattiello’s double was followed up by a third from Younes Bnou Marzouk.
The victory lifts the Bianconeri up to third place on 18 points and cuts the gap on league leaders Torino to just three following their draw with Bologna this afternoon.
Andrea Zanchetta’s side will aim to maintain the heat on their inter-city rivals when they welcome another team from Emlilia-Romagna, Modena, to Chisola next weekend.
For now, though, all their attentions will be focused on Wednesday afternoon’s crucial UEFA Youth League clash against FC Copenhagen, a must-win encounter to keep the Bianconeri’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.
