Goalscorer Sebastian Giovinco reflects on the significance of tonight’s win at the Stadio Friuli, calling for the side not to get ahead of themselves with the title race still open
On the night he netted an impressive opening goal as the showpiece of another spirited overall performance, Sebastian Giovinco has hailed the Bianconeri’s 2-0 away victory over Udinese as an important win, but one that for the moment remains only potentially decisive.
Assessing the result afterwards, the 27-year-old began: “It’s an important victory, but not necessarily a decisive one. The Scudetto’s not in the bag yet.”
The striker began an outing of real quality with a bang as he skipped inside to curl the 16th-minute opener past Simone Scuffet, and he went on to reflect on his second strike of the season.
“I hadn’t scored for a while and goals are important for a forward. I’m happy that one arrived on a night like this.”
Giovinco concluded with a word on his rapport with tonight’s strike partner Fernando Llorente, scorer of the second goal in Udine.
“Having a player with his attributes alongside you is important, but my style of play hasn’t changed from last year.”
