Buffon at Juventus until 2013. Interview on JuventusMember

Nine months after renewing Gianluigi Buffon’s contract, Juventus and the player have decided to extend it even further. This afternoon the goalkeeper met Managing Director Jean-Claude Blanc and Director of Sport Alessio Secco to sign the new contract, which will expire on June 30 2013.

«Today– Jean-Claude Blanc explained – we've realized the opportunity to further extend and strengthen our relationship with Buffon, a player who we're very close to, as we share the same values and vision about Juventus' future, both in terms of plans and in terms of objectives. The agreement seals our strong desire to stay on the same path that has given much joy to Juventus and their fans, and it allows us to give new life and stability to our competitive project».

The contract signed today is as long as current federal rulings allow: «This is a way – Juventus' Managing Director added – to underline our trust in a player who is decisive in our present and will be in our future too. We've always recognized Gianluigi's qualities as a human being too, his charisma and his spirit of attachment to the Club, in line with Juventus' values and today's contract extension confirms all this».

After the meeting, Gianlugi Buffon said he'll be proud to wear the Juventus strip for one more year: «Today – he declared – is another step on the road I took in the summer of 2007. I'll be at Juventus 'til I'm thirty-five years old: we have plenty of time to win a lot and to try and reach those achievements that everyone expects. I thank the Club and the fans for the trust and the affection that they have for me».
